For a change, today was the day of the striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba). Unlike usual Striped dolphin sightings, today was very special one and they showed themselves from a very curious side and were even approaching our boat and saying hello. And this even with many new born calves in the pod! A few of the calves even still had their fetal folds visible from being fold up in the belly, that’s how little they were.. And still showed themselves very playful, leaping and breaching! Absolutely adorable!!
The pod of striped dolphins stayed around so we were able to join them again in the afternoon tour and they were even friendlier! We also met a loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) i always find it amazing to see turtles in the sea.. Did you know that only one of 1000 turtles that hatch make it to adulthood? Makes you see each of them as a survivor. Our last tour unfortunately seemed like going out into a liquid desert, after hours of searching – still no animals in sight.. Well this also is part of wildlife tours! Hopefully more luck tomorrow!
