This morning we didn’t have to wait long for our guests, and we already had our first sighting. Short-beaked Common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) relaxedly migrated along the coast. Up to ten animals shared space in the bow wave and our guests shared seats in the bow of the boat to watch the elegant swimmers gliding in front of the boat.
We then had a group of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) that behaved very differently. Although we could be persuaded to come to our bow wave, but only for short flying visits.
In the afternoon we had to go far. Shortly before Capo Girao we were able to come into contact with a group of Bottlenose dolphins. It was the offshore variety that only appears in our waters from time to time. The animals are stronger and often very active.
