Our encounter with the Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) was intense, beautiful, touching. They showed themselves from their best side and accompanied our Ribeira Brava. It is always such a heart opener to perceive that they are doing this voluntarily, simply because they feel like it.
Quite a few conspecifics of our wonderful dolphins from today do not have this choice. Locked in small pools, forced to perform tricks and a life full of suffering for the entertainment of stupid people who do not even notice this torment. Quite a few conspecifics of our wonderful dolphins from today are driven into the bay of Taiji/Japan. The seawater there is then red. Slaughtered or imprisoned for the rest of life are the two options. But slowly something stirs. Some Japanese take to the streets and demonstrate against this practice. This is a good, if still very delicate, development.
Today we had a bright blue sea and happy-free animals. That’s how it should be.
