Today there where two trips scheduled, but as we work with nature not everything can be done as planned. The conditions did not allow the trip in the morning and also for the second trip we decided in the last minute to do it.
So, we went out and saw nothing, at least no whales and dolphins. But in the ocean there is more than just cetaceans. Thus we could appreciate some Portuguese man-o-war (Physalia physalis), Cory’s shearwater (Calonectris borealis) and the highlight was a barrel where we could catch a Grey triggerfish (Balistes capriscus). This fish uses his spine on the back to anchor itself into crevices, where it is then protected by predators. So although no whale to be seen, the trip showed us some other wonders of the ocean.
