She is back! Stenella went out to sea again today after a period of abstinence. It wasn’t long before we had a wonderful sandwich situation. On the right Short-finned Pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) in the middle Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) and on the left again Pilot whales. When we left, the animals were migrating towards Funchal and we made our way to a second group of Bottlenose dolphins. The sun was shining, the sea was smooth and we had these beautiful sightings. Something like that can be called a good start.
By the way, a red Christmas ball was floating on the sea. Was that because today is Santa Claus day?
In the afternoon it was cloudy, a little fresher and yet we met our summer dolphins, the Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), who loves to interact with us. Always a nice experience!
