After a long, extended search, our guests of Stenella had the pleasure of observing the cute little Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). They were very agile today. They flew over the sea in long leaps. Ze Maurisio, our captain, saw flying fish trying to escape the small dolphins during the first sequence of jumps. Another reason for flying over the sea like this is the fact that the air resistance is less than the drag. The animals can move quickly with less energy expenditure. Watching these small, round bodies fly over the sea is a sweet sight.
Things went faster at midday. We had a school of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) ready to come into the bow wave of the Ribeira Brava.
