From small to large, everything is possible here. While we had a Blainville’s beaked whale (Mesoplodon densirostris) at lunchtime and a nursery group of moms with tiny little calves among the Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), in the evening there were two majestic Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) that dived down in the glistening evening light.
The Spotted dolphin calves were happy and still hopped a little awkwardly next to their moms. So small, almost as if you could put them in your pocket. The mothers support each other and share the care. If a mother goes down to fortify herself with fishy morsels, she hands her little one over to the kindergarten group. Very practical.
