Madeira has been battered by a lot of rain and heavy swell for a long time now. But today we were finally able to go out again. We wound our way through the waves to first observe a school of Bottlenose dolphins (Delphinus delphis) and then a Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). There were a few animals off our coast today, but they kept their distance. However, one we were lucky to observe very close to us.
At our noon trip there was a lively group of Bottlenose dolphins that delighted everyone. Our attentive guests noticed that the animals moved synchronously through the water. This is a sign of belonging. This is important for a good group cohesion and teamwork.
