W\u00e4hrend die Tour an Bord unseres traditionellen Bootes wegen der hohen D\u00fcnung leider abgesagt wurde, trotzte unsere Stenella den Bedingungen, um eine Gruppe von Atlantische Fleckendelfinen (<i>Stenella fronatlis<\/i>) und Pottwale (<i>Physeter macrocephalus<\/i>) zu finden. Beide Arten sind Fans tieferer Gew\u00e4sser. W\u00e4hrend Pottwale es vorziehen, in Gebieten zu bleiben, woo sie jederzeit abtauchen k\u00f6nnen, um Tintenfische in der Tiefe zu jagen, werden Fleckendelfine h\u00e4ufig entlang der 2000-m-Tiefenlinie angetroffen, die etwa 4 Seemeilen vor der K\u00fcste liegt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">Im Gegensatz dazu neigen Gro\u00dfe T\u00fcmmler (<i>Tursiops truncatus)<\/i> dazu, in den Gew\u00e4ssern rund um die K\u00fcste der Insel zu bleiben. W\u00e4hrend unserer Nachmittagstour an Bord der Stenella begegneten wir einer gr\u00f6\u00dferen Gruppe und hatten die Freude, die kleinen K\u00e4lber dabei zu beobachten, wie sie ihre K\u00f6pfe und winzigen R\u00fcckenflossen \u00fcber die Oberfl\u00e4che steckten, w\u00e4hrend sie gehorsam neben ihren M\u00fcttern schwammen. Ein weit verbreiteter Irrtum \u00fcber die Art ist, dass Gro\u00dfe T\u00fcmmler nur an der Oberfl\u00e4che jagen, was viele nicht wissen, ist dass diese m\u00e4chtigen Tiere bis zu 550 m tief tauchen k\u00f6nnen! Die weite Verbreitung der Art macht Gro\u00dfe T\u00fcmmler zu recht kosmopolitischen Meeresbewohnern, deren Jagdmuster und Beutepr\u00e4ferenzen weitgehend von der Region abh\u00e4ngen. Hier auf Madeira sehen wir sie selten an der Oberfl\u00e4che jagen; das Interessantere scheint f\u00fcr uns Menschen unsichtbar in den tieferen Schichten der Wassers\u00e4ule zu
