Die gr\u00f6\u00dften Tiere hier drau\u00dfen sind die Barten- (<em>Balaenoptera spec.<\/em>) und die Pottwale (<em>Physeter macrocephalus<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">W\u00e4hrend der Mittagstour mit unserem Schnellboot \u201eStenella\u201d, das nach der genannten Gattung benannt ist, sahen wir einige der kleinsten Delfine und echte Giganten des Meeres. Vier Meilen vor Calheta kamen Streifendelfine in Sicht. Diese agilen Tiere k\u00f6nnen eine Maximall\u00e4nge von 2,5 m erreichen. Neugeborene sind unter einem Meter lang und wiegen nur etwa 15 kg. Somit sind sie die kleinsten Vertreter der Wale und Delfine, die wir hier sehen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dies stellt einen drastischen Kontrast zur zweiten Sichtung auf der Tour dar. Mehr als 10 Meilen vom Land entfernt trafen wir auf zwei Seiwale (<em>Balaenoptera borealis<\/em>). Diese sind bei der Geburt bereits 4 bis 5 m lang und wiegen mit bis zu 750 kg in etwa so viel wie 5 ausgewachsene Streifendelfine. Adulte Seiwale haben eine eindrucksvolle Erscheinung, wenn sie ihren langen R\u00fccken beim Atmen an der Oberfl\u00e4che zeigen. Von der Spitze der Schnauze bis zum Ende der Fluke k\u00f6nnen sie bis zu 20 m erreichen. Sie w\u00fcrden eine Bahn in einem normalen Schwimmerbecken eines \u00f6ffentlichen Schwimmbades fast komplett ausf\u00fcllen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gro\u00df und klein \u2013 es ist der Kontrast, der das Leben interessant macht.
