Drei Hauptgruppen \u2013 Wale (<em>Cetacea<\/em>), Robben (<em>Pinnipedia)<\/em> und Seek\u00fche (<em>Sirenia<\/em>) \u2013 entwickelten sich unabh\u00e4ngig voneinander.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Wale stammen von Huftieren ab, die vor etwa 50 Millionen Jahren lebten. Ihre fr\u00fchesten Vorfahren, wie <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Pakicetus<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">, waren wolfs\u00e4hnliche Tiere, die sich in Uferzonen aufhielten und gelegentlich ins Wasser gingen. Sp\u00e4ter entwickelten sich Formen wie <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Ambulocetus<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">, die schon amphibisch lebten und sowohl an Land als auch im Wasser jagten. Mit <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Basilosaurus<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"> vor etwa 40 Millionen Jahren entstand ein vollst\u00e4ndig aquatisches Tier, das keine Hinterbeine mehr besa\u00df. Schlie\u00dflich entwickelten sich die modernen Wale mit stromlinienf\u00f6rmigen K\u00f6rpern und Schwanzflossen, die durch vertikale Bewegungen angetrieben werden.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Die Vorfahren der Robben lebten vor etwa 25-30 Millionen Jahren. Sie stammen von landbewohnenden Fleischfressern ab, \u00e4hnlich den heutigen B\u00e4ren oder Mardern. Fr\u00fchformen wie <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Enaliarctos<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"> zeigten bereits Anpassungen an das Leben im Wasser, darunter Schwimmh\u00e4ute und stromlinienf\u00f6rmige K\u00f6rper. Im Laufe der Evolution entwickelten sich Robben, Seel\u00f6wen und Walrosse, die zwischen Wasser und Land wechseln k\u00f6nnen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Seek\u00fche sind eng mit Elefanten verwandt und entstanden vor etwa 50 Millionen Jahren. Fr\u00fche Formen wie <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Pezosiren<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"> lebten an Land, suchten jedoch in flachen Gew\u00e4ssern nach Nahrung.
