Die vorherrschenden Winde Madeiras treffen die Insel aus Nordosten. Mit dem Wind kommen Feuchtigkeit und Regen. Deshalb werden Sie, wenn Sie den Norden der Insel erkunden, feststellen, dass er sehr \u00fcppig, gr\u00fcn und voller Wasserf\u00e4lle ist. Es ist ein wundersch\u00f6ner Teil der Insel, aber nicht so ideal, um sich aufs Meer hinauszuwagen. Mit den Winden gibt es mehr Wellen und Schaumkronen auf dem Meer. Das bedeutet nicht, dass es im Norden keine Wale und Delfine gibt, sie sind nur viel schwieriger zu finden und zu beobachten. Aus diesem Grund gibt es im Norden fast keine M\u00f6glichkeit, eine Bootsfahrt zu unternehmen, und aus demselben Grund ist die See im Hafen von Calheta die meiste Zeit ruhig. Nat\u00fcrlich gibt es immer eine Ausnahme von einer Regel. Heute kam starker Wind aus Nordwesten auf. Nach langer Beratung mit unseren Beobachtern entschieden wir, dass es besser war, unsere Touren abzusagen. Alle Touren au\u00dfer einer am Morgen. Da unser Schnellboot an windigen Tagen (relativ) bequem durch die Wellen rauscht, wagten wir uns heraus. Leider konnten wir keine Wale finden, aber einige viel ungew\u00f6hnlichere Kreaturen kreuzten unseren Weg. Sie haben vielleicht schon einmal von Fliegenden Fischen (<em>Cheilopogon melanurus<\/em>) geh\u00f6rt. Auch heute sind einige von ihnen aus heiterem Himmel aufgetaucht. Sie haben ihre Brustflossen und ihren K\u00f6rper so angepasst, sie steif genug zu machen, um viele Meter weit aus dem Meer zu gleiten um so Raubtieren oder Booten auszuweichen. Wir begegnen ihnen auf unseren Reisen ziemlich regelm\u00e4\u00dfig, dennoch sind sie immer eine wunderbare \u00dcberraschung. Ein viel gr\u00f6\u00dferes Lebewesen beschloss ebenfalls, einen Sprung aus seiner normalen Meeresumgebung zu wagen und landete direkt auf unserem Boot &#8211; ein Tintenfisch! Unsere G\u00e4ste und die Crew brauchten einen Moment, um zu verarbeiten, was gerade passiert war, als sie ihn in unserem Boot liegend fanden. Unser Guide Pete hob ihn vorsichtig hoch. Der Tintenfisch war noch am Leben und schien aufgebracht &#8211; wenig \u00fcberraschend. Er hatte Tinte abgesondert, was ein \u00fcblicher Abwehrmechanismus bei vielen Kopff\u00fc\u00dfern ist. Und tats\u00e4chlich gibt es auch einige Arten von \u201efliegenden Tintenfischen\u201c, die sich auf \u00e4hnliche Weise wie fliegende Fische angepasst haben.
