Today our youngest guest wanted to know something really important. Lupo asked me which information the spotter gives to the skipper when they talk on the phone. A very good question! As soon as our spotter has a sighting he phones immediately our skipper. He gives him, for example, the following information: In front of which land mark are the animals – distance to the land – Species of marine mammals (especially if the sighting is far out this is not always easy to say) – group size – Behavior of the animals – travel direction – dive times (this is important when we have whales). The skipper uses all these information to perform the best possible approach to the animals. Today there were Common dolphins in the morning and in the afternoon. During our beautiful afternoon trip on a calm ocean we had a super surprise! Striped dolphins, usually very reserved and keeping us at arm’s length, they were pretty cozy, playful and joined the bow of the boat. Everybody enjoyed this special event!
