            1.03.2015 – AND THE STARS WERE . . .

Today, beside the Common Dolphins, we saw three adults of Northern Gannets (Morus bassanus) resting on the sea surface. The birds were floating on the water apparently resting, an unusual observation. Normally we see individuals alone and sometimes in feeding situation together with other species of seabirds like Corey’s Shearwaters (Calonectris diomedea borealis).

These three individuals are quiet far from their breeding grounds, located on the Northern Atlantic and most likely to have “French Passport”, although there are colonies located as far as Quebec (Canada) or Northern Scandinavia.
