02.07.2026 – I smell a whale

Today, on all our tours, we encountered a Tropical whale (Balaenoptera edeni). These sightings can be quite special, as this smaller species of baleen whale can sometimes be quite curious. Our Tropical whale was in a ‘dancing mood’. He danced in elegant serpentine patterns, almost in step with the boat. Situations like this can arise during a cautious, slow encounter, when the whale itself has the choice to make contact.
