In the morning, we enjoyed a leisurely tour along the Ribeira Brava. Here and there, we spotted small groups of Short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis).
At midday, we headed out in the speedboat. A school of Common dolphins made one of our birthday guests’ dreams come true. But that wasn’t all. We then headed towards some Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) approaching from the east. They too were travelling in small groups. Whilst we were watching a few of them, a Sperm whale suddenly appeared right next to the boat, having crept up on us from the left, passing underneath the boat. A 100% surprise factor! Our birthday guest, the little ones who are finally back, and all the other guests held their breath.
