Some days the decision as to whether we can go out is made first on site. Our spotter, standing in an elevated position, can get an idea of what the situation is at sea. A decision will then be made together with the skipper as to whether a tour can take place. Today it worked. Drumond, our spotter already had Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) for us as we headed out to sea. The encounter with these animals was close and intense. But we were also found. A school of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) approached us. What a surprise!
