            30.06.2016 – “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”

Published by lobosonda on July 6, 2016

Today on my working day I was both a guide and a guest! The last one in double meaning as this morning I went out as a guest on board the Stenella in the beautiful blue element. The morning was fresh and silent, when we went out with good instructions from the skipper Daniel and a cheerful capitain named Drumond. An amazing adventure was waiting for us and a promise was in the air and a special “Hmmm” feeling. Quickly we had three groups of Atlantic Spotted dolphins. It started with a calm approach, soft contacting and first observations of these beautiful dolphins and then the big moment came! We slided carefully into the water, found our position on the rope, mask was tight and the slow drive through this bright, radiant blue started. To dive in and glide through this element is like a meditation! The rays of the sun reached into the depth. In effortless movement the dolphins travelled toward us and came closer and closer. They turned and spined around, and when they looked at me, I felt it was personal. Suddently everything was forgotten, the time stood still and only this moment counted! I absorbed with my eyes every single movement but it was more, I was marveled by these animals. The dolphins dived steep into the depth, only to come back the next minute to observe these strange “water beings” not able to glide through the water by themselves. When they came up the white tips of their beaks were brightly shinning. Gently the sonar and the communication of these dolphins travelled through the water. Tiny bubbles of air travelled towards the surface and shimmered like little diamonds. Once Marilyn Monroe sang: “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”. With these kind of diamonds, I totally agree!
