Now it’s official, summer is here!!!!! Our great, sweet, funny, interactive, unique, amazing SUMMER dolphins have returned. Finally the Happy’s are here, our Atlantic Spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis)!!! In the afternoon, a large school of interactive Spotted dolphins surrounded our Ribeira Brava. The animals were fighting for the best bow wave place and were just everywhere, often high in the air 😉 . It was almost as if they wanted to say „Hello“ to ALL. What a joy about these dolphin friends. An older animal, already with spots had a very special dorsal fin (look, if you recognize him in the photos). What a great sighting! What a gift!
The morning started cautiously, because the Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) kept their distance. The Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) were much better to be seen. But the highlight of the morning was still to come. As you can see again, be patient, it´s worth it 😉 In our third sighting on the Stenella we had a mixed group of Striped dolphins and Common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) AND all were wonderfully active. The Striped dolphins showed up in all their beauty, the Common dolphins too 🙂 What a great sighting! What a gift!
