Today I had the pleasure of having my first trips with our remarkable captain Senhor Luis this year along with two groups of interested and friendly guests. The paramount principle in our company´s philosophy is to conduct our trips with respect towards the animals and this is best achieved through careful maneuvers on the part of our skippers and constant observations of the animals behavior by the entire crew. The possible encounters are beyond rewarding. This morning we sighted a small group of inquisitive Short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) while the guests on the afternoon tour were greeted by a dispersed group of interactive Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). Having an intelligent animal surprising you with such curiosity is truly humbling and makes us feel, in the light of the current damage mankind is causing to the environment, like we are doing something right. So near the feelings of admiration and joy, we feel when encountering such magnificent creatures, we also feel encouraged to fight for what can still be saved.
