Today we had a intensive sighting with a big pod of pilot whales, mixed with bottlenose dolphins. The pilot whales very close together and the bottlenose dolphins around them, such as if they would defend something… perhups the videos that I took will help to find out more.

            Globicephala macrorhynchus / Larus michahellis

            Globicephala macrorhynchus

Such a tumor we’ve allready seen on one pilot whale. What it is, we don’t know.

Hi Claudia, we still talk about our trip at your boat ! Bo says she found the dolphins very, very special. She even wants to give a speech/perfomance in her class at school and show the children how special dolphins are and how they live. Have you any suggestions for her where to get her information of special foto´s ?
Bo says ´hi´ to the dolphins,

Dear Claudia and all the others taking part in the boat trip,
thank you for sharing a great experience with us! (We are the Finnish couple – living in Belgium.) The first whales we´ve ever seen in the wild. Perfect ending to a perfect holiday.

We also got some nice shots and videos, which we watched through yesterday. Wouldn´t have believed that some of the pictures turned out to be so good, taken with just a pocket camera and from a moving boat.

There was talk how you can choose guaranteed dolphin-free tuna. I recommend these pages to all of you who want to make sure no whales are harmed because of your sea-food:

              Cheers,
              Riitta (& Mikko)
