The highlight of today’s Ribeira Brava trips was a curious Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) that surprised out guests towards the end of the second trip. Whilst cetaceans were another no show for our traditional boat, our guests were enjoying scenic times on the Atlantic Ocean aboard our beautiful vessel.
On Stenella, our guests saw Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in the morning and a Cuvier’s beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris) in the afternoon. While Bottlenose dolphins can be encountered year-round in Madeira, beaked whales are best observed in September which is why we are very excited to encounter these elusive animals.
