20.09.2025 – Paying the ocean tax

Today it felt like summer was over. The day was cool, humid and overcast and later it started even to rain. Still we left the marina for our trips. In the morning due to low demand only the Stenella our speed boat left for the ocean, but unfortunately there was nothing to see out there.
We were already fearing that the trips at 13:00 and 13:30 would have the same fate, when our spotter Silviano spotted some Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). We headed directly out to the ocean to see those magnificent animals and enjoyed a nice sighting. Sadly later more rain came in, which prevented that our spotter could work. On the ocean we tried to dodge the rain as good as possible, the speed boat with more success than our beloved Ribeira Brava.
The last trip was not as lucky. Sadly the dolphins were already to far away to see them and the weather was still so bad, so that Silviano couldn’t work. In the end it is nature too.
