Today our boats encountered Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) and Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). The last trip went without cetacean sightings again. Whilst we did not see any animals, we found quite some rubbish. We fished a big white barrel, a canister and even a fishing net out of the water. Whenever we can, we like to collect pieces of rubbish we find at sea, especially ones this big. Plastic waste like discarded fishing nets can be fatal for the animals we love so much. On no sightings trips, collecting rubbish is a great way to “pay the ocean tax” and make a good use of our time at sea.
