Madeira surprised us today with a curious visitor after seeing different groups of dolphins. First we spotted our famous ‘Flipper’ residents also known as the Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). We call them residents because they are always here and also go to the Canary Island, swimming a distance of 498km everytime they feel like it. Just amazing. Then we had the chance to photograph a really playful group of Spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). We even saw somes calves! Finally we finished an amazing day by seeing a not so common Hammerhead shark (Sphyrna zygaena). It was a juvenile just swimming calming at the ocean’s surface. How amazing is this piece of land on earth that allows so many different species to be here and co exists.
