After a couple of stormy days, we enjoyed a real summer day on sea today. Warm, blue sky and calm sea, almost like a mirror. Guests of both boats where lucky to observe very active Common dolphins. Besides this, we managed to see sea-turtles (Caretta Caretta) and the strange looking animal colony (relatives of jelly fish) called “Portuguese man of war”. They sail with a gas filled bladder on top of the oceans.
Besides this, the guests on board the Stenella where lucky with seeing further out some Sperm whales. The champions of deep diving were calm at the surface and could be observed from near. Skipper Daniel found a dead exemplar of a little squid and brought it back to shore, in order to find out about the species name. Maybe the little calamar was a left over (food) of the Sperms?
