Ribeira Brava is out at sea again. After several weeks in maintenance our beauty is back in service. Although we didn’t had a sighting on the first trip, we always and also the guests enjoy going out on the traditional boat. During the trip we noticed the difference between our Stenella and Ribeira Brava. Stenella is much faster and has a wider reach. This allowed her to visit the Pilot whales (Globicephalus macrorhynchus) but the Ribeira Brava has its charm.
On the second trip both boats got blessed by the sighting of some sei whales (Balaenoptera borealis). These large baleen whales are one of the species which use the island of Madeira as a pit stop on their annual migrations.
On the last trip with Stenella we hadn’t any luck with cetaceans, but nevertheless the clients enjoyed the trip, where they were eager to learn about the wonders of the deep sea like hydrothermal vents or brine pools.
