In the past two weeks, two massive storms “Emma” and “Phoenix” hit Madeira archipelago, leaving its marks mostly along the southwest shoreline. As expected and despite taking some preventive measures some shore-line structures were damaged, like for example the protective harbor wall and some of its anchoring places in Calheta. After this tumultuous period we finally had our first trip on board STENELLA and during our tour we sighted a large group of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) displaying multiple behaviours. While some juveniles were bow riding STENELLA, others were jumping and flipping over water in what seemed to be a simple demonstration of “joy in life”.
