Another morning trip with STENELLA and practically no wind during the entire trip. All conditions were gathered for a pleasant trip and after just 15 min sailing out, we were already sighting a small group of Short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) feeding on Snipefish (Macroramphosus scolopax) and a Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) basking nearby. Then we headed west towards a baleen whale that had no fixed location. On the way a group of Risso`s dolphins (Grampus griseus) were keeping their distance and soon afterwards we had a double sighting of Short-finned pilot whales (G. macrorhynchus) closely followed by a juvenil Bryde’s whale (Balaenoptera edeni). This was the highlight of the trip and the unusual sighting of two species that apparently do not have any direct benefit in terms of association, but nevertheless interesting to witness this two species together.
