We had a wonderful start in the day, having a big and aktive school of Atlantic spotted dolphins and also Bottlenose dolphins close to our boats. During the afternoon trip we found the Bottlenose dolphins in a resting modus, they seemed to chill out and were lazy. Maybe they also felt the big heat and slowed down?
In the end of the day we had a little sensation: our spotter Belmiro piloted us to a small group of Blainvilles Beaked Whales, which are known to be rather shy. With depths up to 900 m, they belong to the deep-diving species. One of the three animals, circuiting Stenella was a male. With one pair of teeths sticking out of their lower jaw, they differ clearly from females, which have no teeth at all.
Thank you so much Belmiro for another great day at sea.
