In the morning we headed out with our speedboat. A gannet — a rare visitor off the coast of Madeira — glided over the sea. These impressive seabirds are excellent hunters: they plunge into the water from heights of up to 30 meters to catch fish, reaching speeds of over 90 km/h.
Later we encountered a group of short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) fully focused on their hunt.
In the afternoon we went out again, this time on our traditional fishing boat. We searched the open sea for a long time — but this time the ocean remained quiet, and our search was unfortunately unsuccessful.
