On both of our tours, we were regenerated with pure Atlantic energy. Our guests from the snorkeling trip started their day with a great sighting of Atlantic spotted dolphins, which showed up partly close to the snorkeler. It is fascinating to see those elegant animals in their complete beauty but also hearing their high whistles and other sounds of communication to each other.
Later, on the second tour we were lucky to find Blainville Beaked Whales at about 2,5 nautical miles off the coast. Usually, they can only be observed at the open sea as they don’t come close to shallower water. Only the males of this species show a pair of straight tusks, sticking out from their lower jaw. Blainvilles feed on squid and deep sea fish which they hunt up to 1000 m depths.
