Although the weather was not perfect and the sea conditions pretty rough we decided to go out for one trip and this decision was the best we could have done. The reason was that we spotted a blue giant in the expanse of the blue ocean. I am speaking about the Blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus). After driving for around 30 minutes towards Punta do Pargo, we finally saw the blue whale. These animals which can grow over 30m in length and are the largest current living animal in the world, are rare visitors around the island of Madeira and this you could see on the faces of the guests and crew. We followed the whale for a while before we decided to return to shore as the conditions were getting worse. All of us got wet, but it we all agree it was definitely worth it.
